Bountiful's Painting Professionals

Let’s Make Your House as Beautiful as Bountiful

American Town Painting delivers interior and exterior painting built for Bountiful’s hillside climate, mature housing stock, and the pride homeowners here take in their properties.

Hillside Home Specialists

Bountiful's terraced lots and steep exposures create unique painting challenges. We've worked extensively on the benches and know what those conditions demand.

Mid-Century Home Experience

Bountiful has one of Davis County's richest collections of 1950s–70s homes. We treat original plaster, wood trim, and vintage surfaces with the care and prep they require.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

We walk every surface with you before we pack up. Anything that needs attention gets handled on the spot, not after a callback and a rescheduled visit.

Exterior Painting

Hillside exposures in Bountiful require a thorough surface assessment before painting. We evaluate each elevation’s UV and wind exposure, check for moisture infiltration at trim and foundation, and apply a primer and finish system matched to the specific face of the home.

Cabinet Refinishing

Original wood cabinets are common in Bountiful’s older homes, and their solid construction is often worth restoring rather than replacing. We spray-finish them to a smooth, durable topcoat that brings them back to life and dramatically updates the kitchen or bathroom without a full renovation.

Commercial Painting

From professional offices along Main Street to medical and retail spaces throughout Bountiful’s commercial districts, we work around your operating schedule and deliver clean, consistent results without disrupting the businesses or tenants sharing the building.

Color Consultation

Choosing a color for a Bountiful hillside home means thinking about how it reads from the valley below, how it interacts with the natural stone and mature landscaping common on the benches, and how it holds up as it weathers. Our advisors understand Bountiful’s visual context and help you make a choice that looks right for years to come.

Simple 3-Step Process

Here's what to expect when you hire us in Bountiful

Step 1

Our initial walkthrough

We walk all four elevations of your Bountiful home with you, assess west-facing wind exposure and north-facing moisture retention, check trim seals and foundation clearances, and inspect interior surfaces for plaster condition and paint history. You'll have a written itemized estimate within 24 hours.

Step 2

Prep that matches what your home needs

For older Bountiful homes, prep often takes longer than the painting itself. We strip failing paint, address incompatible layers with bonding primer, fill and stabilize any plaster cracks, and protect all floors, furniture, and fixtures before finish coats go on. On hillside exteriors, we pay particular attention to the west-facing elevation where wind-driven erosion starts earliest.

Step 3

We leave once you’re happy

When painting is complete, we walk every room and every exterior elevation with you. We handle any touch-ups before we pack a single tool. We clean up fully, remove all materials from the property, and treat the final walkthrough as the most important part of the job.

Ask Before Hiring Us

Why does the paint on my Bountiful west-facing elevation keep fading and peeling?

West-facing walls on Bountiful’s bench receive sustained afternoon UV exposure, combined with wind off the Great Salt Lake. This combination degrades standard exterior latex paint faster than most homeowners expect. The fix requires a UV-stable finish coat, a heavier primer system on that elevation specifically, and in some cases an additional finish coat on the most exposed face.

You can paint over plaster in good condition with proper prep. We fill hairline cracks, stabilize any soft or hollow areas, and apply a PVA or shellac-based primer before finish coats. Plaster that is actively deteriorating or separating from the lath may need partial repair before painting.

We assess this during the walk-through and include any remediation work in your written estimate upfront.

Yes, but it requires a bonding primer between the oil-based layer and any new water-based coating. Skipping this step is the most common reason paint peels in Bountiful’s older homes; the layers simply don’t bond without it. We identify oil-based paint layers during the walk-through and include the appropriate primer in the estimate.

Most Bountiful single-family homes take three to five days. Hillside homes with additional access considerations, or older homes requiring more extensive surface prep on failing elevations, may take an additional day. We provide a firm timeline in your written estimate and honestly build in any prep time.

Yes. Bountiful’s terraced lots and steep yards are familiar territory for us. We bring appropriate laddering and scaffolding equipment for hillside work and factor access requirements into the project timeline and estimate.

We move and protect standard furniture during our prep process. We ask that you remove personal valuables, fragile items, and anything irreplaceable before we arrive. Our crew handles everything else before the first coat goes on.

Yes. We are fully licensed through the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) and carry general liability insurance covering all work performed in Bountiful and throughout Davis County.
