1- Clean The Wallpaper Before Painting
All painting projects must start with a clean surface. Whether you are painting wood, wallpaper, or laminate, removing dust from the surface will ensure the paint adheres to the surface. Cleaning the surface is the best way to achieve a smooth finish as all small debris will be removed before painting. Use a mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the surface, and let it dry completely before applying a primer or paint.
2- Utilize A Primer
Primer helps the paint adhere to a surface for longer, which is especially important to paint over wallpaper. Oil or shellac-based primers work best for wallpaper because it will keep the adhesive from underneath from affecting the paint’s appearance.
